That Latte Place @ IKON Connaught

I have been going for cafe hopping around KL area for quite sometime now. However, I never get to post all of the places on my blog because my blog cannot catch up with my tummy life.

Anyways, I guess a lot of you have been to That Latte Place at Persiaran Ritchie, Off Jalan Ampang Hillir. Where it used to be an outdoor location in Yayasan Seni Art Centre and Gallery. Well, they have just officially moved into a new mall in Taman Connaught - IKON Connaught.
IKON Connaught is still pretty new, only the the Ground Floor is fully open with F&B restaurants and That Latte Place is located there.

Even though the cafe has just opened in middle of August but there is already a crowd. Probably the regular customers has come for the support.

Unfortunately, I have not been to the cozy open air cafe in Ampang but I'm glad I was here to check out their new location last weekend with BFF.
It was almost high tea time so we just ordered coffee and one of their famous dish. We ordered Mocha (left) and Latte (right). The coffee is good. I really like the Mocha because it has a really rich dose of chocolate in it. The Latte is slightly bitter for my liking.

Just so you know, they have kept their menu same. Basic coffee beverages and just a dozen of main courses. I guess keeping the menu simple is good.

Also, they have two small self-service stations for you to grab your own sky juice, cutlery and sauces & seasoning.
We ordered their must try House Egg Ben. Home-made Hollandaise sauce is light and tasty, it really goes well with the perfect poached eggs, mushrooms, ham and toast bread. It comes with a side salad and crisp fried potatoes.
Love it very much! It's so far the best version of Egg Benedict that I have tried. See how the egg yolk is still runny when you slice it in half, perfecto! I would definitely come back to try out the rest of their menu.

DIY Liese Bubble Hair Dye for the First Time

Hey all, I'm well and alive just in case you all are wondering. I don't want to blog about my MIA period yet. So for now, just wanna blog about my first time experience with Liese Bubble Hair Dye.

I'm sure all of you are well known about Liese Bubble Hair Dye by now. So I won't go into details. Though it is true that it's easy to use as learning ABC. You know the trail.

This was my before wear out coloured hair that I'm very beh tahan of. My short hair has grown out too. Wanna keep it longer this time around.

As you can see my roots are growing out and I have like 3 shades of colour on my head.

This is what you get inside of the packaging. The colour I chose was Elegant Ash. Feel like going for very dark colour this time.
From left to right, the box, chemical colouring #1, chemical colouring #2 of which you need to mixed it before using. Pump for creating the bubble effect. Conditional treatment for after colouring and a pair of gloves.

New hair colour! The colour did not came out as dark as I wanted but it's better than the before look. Probably because I still have my previous mocha wear out colour. The results is satisfying.
This was the colour a day after. There's the ash colour element in it which I really like.
This is a week later. The colour reflects differently under different lighting. This is from natural sunlight. If you noticed the bottom part of my hair is a different shade. It IS the exact colour of Elegant Ash. I guess that my bleach hair still works it's magic of bringing out the exact colour. Love it!
This is from very low light. It can go pretty dark if it's indoor.

The above two pictures are indoors with better lighting. Pretty cool, right?

It's not bad being my first time dying my own hair. I usually help my bro to dye his. Hope the colour could stay on longer, this we have to see. Till then see ya for now.

Marmite Chicken

Marmite... is either a love or hate relationship. When I was a child, my grandma used to add Marmite into warm water and made me drink it as a soup. I sometimes like it and sometimes I don't because the flavour is too bland (if add less) but too strong (if add too much).

There are a lot of Chinese restaurants in Malaysia used Marmite to create a dish. Be it Marmite Chicken, Marmite Crab and etc. It's all delicious. However, Marmite is used a bit differently in UK. I got to know that my friends in UK used Marmite to spread on toast! That's weird but when I told them that we have Marmite Chicken in Malaysia they gave me the same response. So, I wiped up a dish of Marmite Chicken last night to let them try.

*** This recipe serves 3-4 person ***

Ingredients:
2 pieces of chicken thighs
1/3 cup of water
1/2 tbs dark soy sauce
1 tbs light soy sauce
1 tbs oyster sauce
1 tbs honey
2 tbs Marmite
A dash of pepper

Marinate:
1/2 tbs dark soy sauce
1 tbs light soy sauce
1 tbs oyster sauce
1 tbs honey
2 tbs Marmite
a dash of pepper

Method:

  • Cut the 2 pieces of chicken thighs into cubes.
  • Mix all of the marinate ingredients with the chicken cubes together. Leave it to marinate for an hour or more.
  • Heat up the pan, add a bit of oil in the pan.
  • Add the marinated chicken cubes into the pan and stir fry them on all sides.
  • Add water. (If you want the dish to be sweeter, add another 1 tbs of honey together with the water.)
  • Stir to mix.
  • Leave it to shimmer until the sauce thickens.
  • Season it for taste.

Marmite Chicken
The Brits loves it! Glad that they like it =D

Short Break Updates

Hey all, a lot has happened since April and my real life have not even catch up with what is going on more along blog about it.

Anyway, this is just a quick and very short update. Let's just take it off from April. I went to Japan for a family trip and totally fell in love with the country. It even change some life perspective of mine. It's like you can never turn back once you have been to Japan. Enough said!

After Japan, it was Granpa 90th birthday. It was a big celebration/ mega reunion in my hometown. Literally almost everyone was there! Everyone had a great time. Rested for a bit. Besties of mine came to KL for a mini foodie trip. I was playing foodie tour guide. Ate so much and also had a great time with them.

Now, I'm in London. So far, I have been here for almost a week now. Jet lag is quite a bi*tch. Can't really sleep and eat right. I guess is aging, never had jet lag before though :( The weather is not that Summer yet but I think it's getting there. My body have to deal with the cold too besides of jet lag. So, I have been a walking zombie for a bit. Though the places I have been so far is very memorable. I have been to Royal Albert Hall for a Star Trek Live Concert, shop and browse around central London on Saturday and chilled out at Brighton beach on Sunday.

Can't wait to share all these adventures with you all, till then ciao!

Sri Nirwana Maju Bangsar

Celebrated this year's New Year with friends for very authentic Banana Leaf Rice lunch at Sri Nirwana Maju Bangsar.

Honestly, I never have authentic Banana Leaf Rice in my life D = *shocker* *please don't judge me* But hey! At least I have now tried and it's one of the best there is in town.

We arrived around noon and the place is already full and there was quite a long queue in front of the shop. No worries though because the waiter will take your order while you are queuing. So when it's your turn, your food will be serve immediately.
They serve your food on real banana leaf, you can request the portion of your white rice and side dishes. The side dishes are (from left) fried bitter gourd, crispy cabbage and refreshing cucumbers. The fried bitter gourd is to die for! You can also have a choice of curry or dal. I have chosen fish curry on my rice.
I guess everyone was very hungry on the first day of New Year, that we ordered so much. Each of us was served with papadum, the fried cracker look alike. I love papadum, a must have when having Indian food.

All the dishes that we ordered are (from clockwise) squid, mutton, chicken and fried fish with egg. If you are still hungry, you can still order fried chicken for your own.

Ate till so FULL! What a way to kick start a New Year! I hope your new year is so good so far. I'm craving for banana leaf rice now! Can't wait for my next visit.
