Sekinchan & Fisherman Village

We will always have mini local trips, during Glyn's annual visits to KL from UK. So, last year he came end of April and we thought one of the best place to bring him around was Sekinchan & Fisherman Village.

I, myself have not been to Sekinchan too, but I did long to visit this place. Never I seen so much greenery paddy fields in my life. It was such a different scenic and to getaway from the city for just a day. If you want to see green and gold colours of paddy end of April is one of the best times. Fully golden bloom will be in May.

Well, don't want to blabber so much and just want to spam pictures. I tried my best ;)
Does it look like it comes from a movie?
The sky was so clear with all white fluffy clouds shining at the greens below. Nice? I love this picture a lot!
Erm.. Glyn said this is some insect's egg and it's pink.

We also visited the paddy/rice factory. The weather was so hot, so we ate ice-creams!

This is not your normal drive way, guess what is it?
It's a freaking huge weighting machine! It's to weight the rice that's transporting out of the factory.

After taking in this green scenery, we were a bit hungry so we headed to the fisherman village. Explore a bit and have lunch.
Grass on the roadside
If my memory serves me right, I think there's either a fish or a crab here. Or is just me trying to take artsy picture of rubbish and sticks.
Fishing nets and very thick ropes
Backbone of a boat
I want to share some of LiJing's picture. Does my picture comes any close to his?
It looks so much lively than mine.

Looks more like a hair commercial than focusing on the green paddy field? *wink wink*

Lunch time! I don't remember the name of this restaurant but it's located opposite the row of shop lots in the fisherman village. It's the second lane of the fisherman village. This fried squid is soooo good.
Bitter gourd with salted egg
Kungpo chicken, I think
Super love this fried mantis shrimp
I really enjoyed this mini trip a lot, great scenery, great companies and good food. What else can you ask for a getaway day trip?

Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense

Ever since I have tried the first bottle of Redken hair serum, I have been religiously using it from then. Until last year I found out my trusty Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide Serum has been discontinue! WHY?!
Smooth Down Heat Glide Serum
I search high and low for a replacement hair serum and found this new Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense. It is an eye opener for me and I knew again I have found a better product from Redken! Thank you =)

The Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense is a Silicone free and oil based natural hair oil. The natural oil contains olive, jojoba, coconut and sunflower seed oils. Making it naturally fragrant and pleasant to smell. The Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense helps coarse and distressed hair. It also gives hair triple times stronger and double more shine.

The best of it is that it could protect your hair from damages because it could seals, coats and smooth the hair cuticle to boost shine.

The design of the bottle is so elegant and classy. At first glance it looks like a perfume bottle. It's a bit heavy for a hair serum but it's solid. I have bring it for trips and it did not crack or break.
Unlike other hair serum usually the bottle has a pump to retrieve the serum, the Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense has a dropper. It makes you feel like a chemist happily playing with your chemicals when you apply the oil on your hair. Or maybe is just me?
I have grown out my hair last year but a lot of damages has been done to it. I have bleach, dyed (several times) and perm my hair. My hair literally feels like hay :S that's pretty bad. That is why I chose Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense instead of Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine. Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine is the same range with the Intense but it's more suitable for normal and fine hair type.
See, long dry hay hair
Close up of my hay
I think I probably have a lot of split ends too, just that you can't really see them close enough through these pictures.

I have been using this amazing hair oil for half a year now (still using the first bottle because it only takes two to three drops daily) and my hair looks so healthy and shine even with the normal damage dyed (once), blow drying and brushing.
Well, I did chopped of my long locks but with the daily friction I did to my hair, it still looks so good.
These short hair were taken during this Chinese New Year. I'm so happy using it. By the way, that's my baby niece and she's just faking her tears to look for her mom. Nope, I did not bully her.
Even before I cut my hair short, my hair was so much better after using this hair oil. No more frizz or dry hay feeling. Much smoother when brushing or styling my hair too.

Other than the improvement you can see on my hair. This awesome hair oil has multiple usage and benefits. Tips: if you skin is dry, try using a few drops of the hair oil on your skin and it could moisturize your skin immediately.

If you like to know how you can maximize the usage of this hair oil, check out this official video from Redken.

If you are lazy to watch the video, here's how you can use the hair oil.

  • You can use it before you shampoo.
  • Use it as an overnight treatment.
  • Mix it into your conditioner or hair mask and rinse thoroughly after 10-15 minutes.
  • Use it as a pre-blow dry treatment.
  • Or just use it on dry hair.

I usually use it after I have wash my hair and as an overnight treatment. I really love it as much as I love the Smooth Down Serum, *ahem* maybe even more.

Eating Clean

I want to wish everyone an advance Happy Chinese New Year! Drive safe when traveling home.

OK, I'm sure by now you have heard of eating clean. I wasn't aware of it until last month, reading it in a magazine while having my hair cut short. After reading it I have made eating clean as one of my new year's resolutions.

Basically eating clean is laying off processed foods and eating healthier. It's not a diet, it's a health practice. People has always believe in diet to lose weight but it is always just a temporary solution. Once the diet has stop and you are out of control, resume your pre-non-diet routine/eating habits, you end up gaining weight again. Thus, the vicious cycles starts all over again. I realize that in order to lose weight the healthier way is to change your eating habits. Of course, exercising is also one of the option but most of the time what we eat, ends up reflecting in our body, mind and soul.

These are just basics of eating clean.
Eat whole foods
Avoid processed foods
Eliminate refined sugar
Eat five or six small meals a day
Cook your own meals
Combine protein with carbs

I don't want to bore you with the details of the basics but you get the picture, right? You can learn more here (I find it a bit funny that this topic has it's own For Dummies and Cheat Sheet) and here. You can Google your research yourself too :)

Here's my current eating habits and working on eating clean.

Avoid fast food - I used to have Mc D on a weekly basis but I have cut down to not even once a month. I only eat when I really have no choice for outside food. This habit I have started half a year ago without knowing about eating clean.

Say no to soft drink - I don't like soft drink all my life, so this won't be a problem for me.

Add more vege or fruits in your daily meals - this is what I have been lacking of, it's hard to do it if you are eating out all the time. At some point of the time, I don't even like vege and being very selective on the veges I put in my mouth. But I have add more vege in my meals now and it doesn't frustrate me.

Reduce alcohol intake - I have lay off alcohol as much as I can. I will only drink it if there's any occasions. I usually drink beer but maybe will go for wine as wine is healthier.

Lessen the sugar - I have sweet tooth, I like chocolate (but only take dark chocolate), I don't like sweets (weird, huh?), I don't usually add sugar in my coffee unless is damn bitter. I drink tea without sugar, I will order juices or any other beverage will less sugar now. I also will try to quit my daily 3-in-1 coffee intake as the sugar level in them are high.

Include more whole grain - I used to have cornflakes or cereals as breakfast but I have since change them to whole grains, wheat or oats. Try to opt for red rice and whole grain breads instead of whites.

Whole food - this is the most important part of eating clean. Always try to select food, even when you are out, that are for a whole. Cooking at home is the best because you know the ingredients that you are using. Avoid frying your food. Go for soup, stri-fry, steam. I have now in the 4th week of having as many soup dinner as possible.

Eating healthier is not a diet to restrict/cut off yourself from your sinful indulges. You have to be willing to take it as a lifestyle. As I said, dieting is only for short term but a lifestyle for long term. You have to practice one day at a time, in this case, one meal at a time to adopt eating clean. You still can have your favourites once in a while or having them in small portions.

If you are really going for eating clean and cooking it yourself but have no idea what is the recipes for eating clean, go here and here. There are more recipes to explores, so go dig some up and share it with me here =D Share your eating clean habits and lifestyle with me too!

PS: Sorry for the long winded and non graphics post LOL.

Short Hair NOW!

TGIF peeps! Just a short update on my hair. I have totally chopped off all my damage hair this time. Damages from bleaching, dying, reflexing, dying again and again... so bad. Keeping it short for now.

Not changing the colour of my hair because I still like this Mocha colour on me. So Leslie, my hairstylist suggest that we change the shape of my hair. Keep them short! It's a very refreshing look for me. Takes some ages away too XD

Before showing you my new look for this new year, just want to recap on how long my hair had grown out.
This was the previous lenght after my last visit to the salon. This was taken with Stephy baby in Singapore

This was just a week before I chopped of my locks! It was taken during a friend's wedding dinner with Nicole who I have not seen since graduation!

And NOW, ***tadah*** SHORT HAIR!
I think the colour shade has gone darker this time eventhough I'm dying the same colour. Probably no more bleached damage hair. Happy!

Another New Year 2014

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL! Aren't you glad that it's another new fresh start? I do! I want to stop apologizing for all of my late entries from now on. I don't really mind that my blog life can't keep up with my real life. It's a good thing! But, I still will try and post up all of the late entries. I might open a category for those debt blog entries.

I know most of you will be sick of hearing people's new year resolution every single year. Though, I feel that somehow, you do need to set some to keep you motivated, to set out some achievable goals, to keep you going in life.

In 2012, I did set one new year resolution which is to have a more eventful year! Guess what?! It happened! I spend most of my year attending Nuffnang events (mostly movie events), won a couple of club/concerts tickets and attending so many concerts ALL in a year! I did a few traveling overseas too. It was great!

Last year, I did not set any new year resolutions. I wanted to lay low. Probably too hype up in the previous year. Though I still attending some concerts and get to travel to a few places. It was quite a "cuti-cuti Malaysia" (travel locally) for me. Also, I did a 5KM marathon, pretty cool. It was good. I got more time to focus on my career and also towards the end of the year, I get to figure out on what I want more in life. Oh ya, almost forgot! I read more too!

So THIS year! It's going to be a rollercoaster ride! I'm going to rock out my year! Probably I'm hitting the big 3-0 soon! So need to live it up a lot! I will be setting some new years resolutions. So far, I have are these.
  • Travel more
  • Try to adopt partial Eating Clean habits (for healthier lifestyle)
  • Tone up my body, means exercising
  • Read even more
  • Have more 'me' time
  • Go for a 7KM or 10KM marathon (maybe)
  • Get a diving license, once I have overcome my fear of diving LOL (serious leh)
  • Spend next year's new year eve at another country!
Hmm... I don't think I want to go on with the list, that would make it hard to achieve. That's all for now, I might update it from time to time.

What is YOUR new year resolution for this year? Make them count! Good Luck!
