Melissa VS Free Fish Shoes

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes! This entry, it's all about shoes. So guys, you can leave now, kidding you can get pressie ideas, you know?

Anyhow, what material of shoes do you like most? For me it's Jelly shoes! There are the most comfortable material for shoes!

My first jelly shoes is from Melissa and it's their collaboration with Campana Brothers. If you don't know how famous Melissa jelly shoes are, you better brush it up!
Melissa shoes is from Brazil, it was first inspired of a simple plastic shoe from a fishermen in south of France. Since then Melissa is the pioneer in the world of plastic shoes. With innovation and trendsetting, Melissa has collaboration with high end designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, Campana Brothers, Jason Wu and so on.
I owned this pair of Melissa shoes for four years plus now, it was a gift from my aunt. It has been my favourite pair of shoes to go for ANYWHERE! Becox it's the most comfortable pair, easy to manage and easy to clean. I really love it a lot! I think this is the oldest shoes I have owned and wore often.
You can see I really have wear it off

I really love the pearly purple highlights reflecting on the dark grey base. It matches with anything! Have you seen any shoes this pretty?
Too bad as time passed, it had reach it's limit to serve me. My dear old Melissa shoes has broken and so does my heart. Does anyone know how to fixed a jelly shoe? If you do please share! If I am able to revive it I really will.
You see, the side of the shoe has broken off. Of course you think you can still wear it right? But NO! It's not the right fit anymore.

Not long after my Melissa shoes has broken, I found out that we have a Melissa outlet in Malaysia! Isn't it awesome or what?! The outlet is located in One Utama, please go check it out!

Though I found the Melissa outlet in Malaysia, I thought of getting back the same design and colour of my shoes but too bad, it's not available anymore.

I'm quite sadden for quite sometime *not being dramatic but shoes does have sentimental values to me* and I tried to search high and low for other jelly shoes to replace my Melissa shoes. Until I come across Free Fish shoes from Japan! It was during a Japanese fair in Isetan. I wanted to get them but my size is out of stock! FML!

I tried finding it online and found out that Free Fish shoes are the hottest jelly shoes in Japan. I wanted to get them online at Rakuten and Zozotown, they have a lot of designs!

I was so wanting to get them until my friend told me that Bratpack is carrying them too. No need to wait for shipping duration. I finally was able to own my first Free Fish shoes.
Nice?
Their comfort level is the same as Melissa. I like this design a lot becox it's so chic and affordable. It's navy blue and kind of like Chanel inspired XD Love it!

By the way, it's out of the jelly shoes topic but I just want to share this. It's spring time and I don't know why I seem to unconsciously buying nude shoes.
From left to right: Nose: neon pink nude saddles, Vincci rose gold studs blush pink pumps and Zara French tip Oxford flats.

OK! Back to jelly shoes, I really can't decide which is my favourite jelly shoes brand. It's like asking me to choose who's my favourite child. I honestly can say BOTH are my favourite! If you have not own any jelly shoes yet. Please do and you will not regret, I promise.

Keeping the Tradition

I realized that every year I took pictures of CNY celebration but I never write a post about it. I also know it's April now but time really flies. I think I will be the last person in the world to talk about this year's CNY.

Every year, Grandpa likes to keep the CNY tradition by having lion dance. Every year, everyone with gather at Grandpa's place and chill. Catching up on each other's life. You know, older generations tend to have bigger families compare to now. So, everyone goes on with their life separately all around the world or even those who lives nearby hardly can have time to gather together.

It's like let's be busy but yet we still should keep in touch at least once a year. I really thinks having lion dance every year is a great thing to keep everyone close.

Oh ya, firecrackers are banned in our country but this year the government is nice enough to allow firecrackers during CNY for a few days!
To have firecrackers during CNY is such a perfect thing! I don't even remember the last time I enjoy lion dance this much without firecrackers LOL

Lion dance is great to watch because they always seem to mimic the ways of how a real lion behave.
See... they playfully trying to squeeze their way into this small entrance together.
It's good manners and good prosperous to let the lions say hi to the great great families.
Again, trying to snatch the mandarin oranges and playing with them selfishly.
It's takes a lot of practice and effort to put on a lion dance show. 采青 'Picking the green' in mandarin means getting good luck in the start of the year.
This lion is really a naughty lion, trying to have a bite of the firecracker. It's always good to have double in the Chinese customs. So, double the firecracker this year too. One already light up from the start and another one to end the show.
The lion is trying to be mischief and up to no good? You just wait and see.
Frighten and excited at the same time when the firecracker has lid up.
The aftermath... pretty!
Hmmm..... yummy, right? This is the BEST butter cake in the whole wide world! Only available annual by my grand aunt. I should really steal the recipe. OMG! Makes me hungry now!

CNY is always a time when I can rejuvenate and collect my thoughts, it's after all going back home the place I was born. Having everyone close at heart, it's feel very soulful.

How's your CNY? How do you celebrate?

5th Hot Air Balloon Festival at Putrajaya

Alright! Hello April! I'm greeting you with this updated Hot Air Balloon Festival that I went over the weekend! It has been held every year and this year I decided to check it out with the BFF.

It's quite a good experience becox I never see an actual hot air balloon up close or ride on one. Though I did not take any rides this time either. If you have missed out this year's one, check it out next year!

It was a 3 day event but I picked Saturday to visit the place. The plan is get there in the evening, snap the hot air balloons flying, wait for the night glow and fireworks. Cool right?! Here's how the actual day went with lots of pictures.

RAIN!!! Before I even step foot out of my door during the evening. I figure the rain will be a short one so didn't care and just went out anyway. Picked up the BFF and head to Putrajaya. Lucky the rain had stopped already. Meet snailyin there as well to have some photography session.

First hot air balloon we saw is a pink one! I have already forgotten about the rain LOL! It was about time the balloonist set up the balloons for the night glow.

There were a lot of people showing up for this event. Check out this green one here... the blue one is Disney's latest movie - Oz The Great and Powerful. I couldn't get the balloon to turn and snap the design on it. #Failed You can also see the famous Putrajaya bridge from a far.
Btw, there will be quite a number of fail attempts for pretty picture during this photography session. Please bare with me showing you amateurs noob pictures.
#FailedAttempt1 for night mode
OK attempt?
There are a lot of other side activities beside seeing hot air balloons during the event. So, guess what's she's doing?
Clueless? Can't guess? She's making huge bubbles!!! So fun!
Spot the bubble everyone is looking at. More #FailedAttempt2
One of the main balloons we want to check out is the Smurf one! The ballonist are getting ready for the night glow now. You can check out each balloon and the ballonist profile *here*.
#FailedAttempt3
Basically night glow is each balloon will light up following the music beats. Quite cool! It's like they slowly dancing and bumping each other.

So we were enjoying the show while waiting for the fireworks. Snailyin who came last year knew that the fireworks will be setting right behind these balloons. We found a nice spot, set up the tripod and camera and waited.

The emcee suddenly yell/scream, the next thing I knew was the fireworks had came.

Well... it came alright, juussst right on top of the balloons!!!
There you go.... can you see anything? I quickly ran to a more visible directions only to get more #FailedAttempt4, 5, 6!
There were people blocking, I wasn't tall enough, not enough space to set the tripod properly, most of all... lamppost and signs blocking me!!!!!
See.... more signs and lamppost
AND... bigger signs!!!!
Most of all, the fireworks wasn't that much and it only happened a short while. That' the end of the wait D=

Oh well, maybe next year then. We decided to stay for awhile more to try our luck with more picture shooting.
#FailedAttempt7
The hot air balloon rides were still carry on becox the queue was too long and the last of the line was only able to get their rides after the show. Crazy right?
Checking out the balloon very up close! The heat was a bit crazy for me. Up, up and there they fly... just for a few stories high and back down they come.
This is the view when you are on the Putrajaya bridge
#FailedAttempt8
The bridge changes colour now and then. Pretty? I don't think I fail for these pictures right? The picture below is when you stand right beneath the bridge.
#FailedAttempt9 apparently, there are boat ride in Putrajaya

See anything funny in this picture? But it's also consider a #FailedAttempt10 though it's was an interesting accidental shoots.

A little girl was blowing bubbles beside me an there were some slight wind. I just snap along. I had fun snapping it although I'm very noob at it, you'll see why.
#FailedAttempt11
#FailedAttempt12
End of the visit, ciao balloon festival and Putrajaya. Nitez peeps!
